All bags typically contain a mix of:

We do not target specific wood species for the purpose of sustainability.

Transparent pricing

You may notice that the kiln-dried logs for sale are measured in m3 rather than kg. Our hardwood logs have had most of the moisture removed by a special kiln-drying process, which means they’re much lighter than seasoned logs. A ton of our wood is significantly more than a ton of seasoned wood. So, to give you a clearer idea of how much kiln dried hardwood logs you get, we measure it in volume.

Best wood for burning

That brings us on to the other benefit of kiln-dried firewood: It’s the best wood for burning.

Because it contains much less water than seasoned wood, you can use it immediately; it’s easy to light, achieves high temperatures quickly and gives off less smoke. Why would you choose anything else?

Sustainable firewood

Just like our customers, we’re always looking for ways to protect the natural environment. That’s why we only ever supply British bulk firewood logs, harvested in responsible ways by professional tree surgeons.

In each bulk bag of firewood, you’ll find a mixture of British hardwoods:

Plus, we’ve made a commitment to support tree-planting projects in the UK. We make regular donations to these programmes in order to support the environment and wildlife for future generations. We aim to be a responsible log supplier.

The spark to our fire/The FirewoodFund story

In 2016, our founder Matthew fulfilled a lifelong dream by purchasing a log-fired stove for his home. Keen to build a flaming masterpiece, but not surrounded by an abundance of woodland, his first objective was to have firewood delivered. Following a friend’s recommendation, a perfectly adequate supply arrived, but the process left him with some burning questions, such as:

“How do I know this wood is sustainable?”

“Will these logs be right for my stove?”

“Do all log suppliers request a cheque be hidden under the nearest plant pot?

Keen to find answers, Matthew sought out alternative log providers, but his investigation uncovered issues. Most notably, the firewood industry lacked transparency, with little indication offered as to where wood was sourced. The term sustainable was – as it all too often is – used liberally, with much of the wood travelling from overseas. These unneeded emissions shocked Matthew, who strongly believed that having the pleasure of fire at home should not cause unnecessary damage to the planet.

It was clear that there was a problem, and, not wanting to be part of it, Matthew founded FirewoodFund.co.uk.

What we do

In the years since, the team at FirewoodFund has strived to offer a sustainable, ethical wood delivery service that ensures anyone can enjoy guilt-free flames. We have worked tirelessly to build long-standing relationships with our customers by providing a hassle-free way to have dry firewood logs delivered to their homes. To ensure they are ready to burn, each log is perfectly kiln-toasted, ensuring a low moisture level and minimising unwanted smoke.

FirewoodFund supplies locally sourced logs and supports British businesses wherever possible. For every order placed on our website, we donate to a tree planting project. You can read more about our pledge below.
