Are the logs 100% British?
All wooden logs for sale on this site are 100% British. In fact, FirewoodFund was set up to provide an alternative to wood sourced from abroad.
Not only does that mean that we support British businesses and keep our carbon footprint to a minimum, but it also means we can trace the origin of all the kiln-dried logs for sale on this site. We know that each and every one was felled in a sustainable way by a Forestry Commission-certified tree surgeon.
How FirewoodFund Started
In 2016, our founder Matthew fulfilled a lifelong dream by purchasing a log-fired stove for his home. Keen to build a flaming masterpiece, but not surrounded by an abundance of woodland, his first objective was to have firewood delivered. Following a friend’s recommendation, a perfectly adequate supply arrived, but the process left him with some burning questions, such as:
“How do I know this wood is sustainable?”
“Will these logs be right for my stove?”
“Do all log suppliers request a cheque be hidden under the nearest plant pot?
Keen to find answers, Matthew sought out alternative log providers, but his investigation uncovered issues. Most notably, the firewood industry lacked transparency, with little indication offered as to where wood was sourced. The term sustainable was – as it all too often is – used liberally, with much of the wood travelling from overseas. These unneeded emissions shocked Matthew, who strongly believed that having the pleasure of fire at home should not cause unnecessary damage to the planet.
It was clear that there was a problem, and, not wanting to be part of it, Matthew founded FirewoodFund.co.uk.
What we do
In the years since, the team at FirewoodFund has strived to offer a sustainable, ethical wood delivery service that ensures anyone can enjoy guilt-free flames. We have worked tirelessly to build long-standing relationships with our customers by providing a hassle-free way to have dry firewood logs delivered to their homes. To ensure they are ready to burn, each log is perfectly kiln-toasted, ensuring a low moisture level and minimising unwanted smoke.
Supporting our environment
We’re a responsible business and take pride in supporting local causes. In addition to responsibly sourcing our kiln-dried logs, we also make regular donations to tree-planting programmes around the UK. This ensures that our woodlands remain healthy, purifying the air and providing habitats for British wildlife.
