Our bulk bags are made up of a mixture of British hardwood logs from a natural thinning process. The typical firewood types are:
Nottinghamshire a county in England incredibly famous for its Woodland. Sherwood Forest is probably the most known forest in the world due to being featured in tales of Robin Hood literature. Beyond the books, came Cinema with Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe both making the woodland even more famous. Personally we prefer Kevin Costner’s portrayal in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves realised way back in 1991, but thats down to personal preference! Interestingly no Nottingham location was actually used in either films. Locations were actually filmed at other woodland sites across England Wales and even France.
Beyond Robin and his Merry Men, Sherwood was also famous for being a royal hunting ground. The woodland also served as a rich resource for timer useful for construction in medieval times. Unfortunately due to the increase in English population, the forest has been in decline since 1787. In 1995 an initiative was set up to slow the rate of decline. The Sherwood Forest Trust is actively trying to restore the forest and preserve its rich history.
Whilst our kiln dried logs on sale are not from Sherwood, we are proud to say they are 100% British. Not only are our logs British, they are Kiln Dried too. The major benefit of logs being kiln dried is it significantly reduces the moisture content resulting in them burning hotter and more efficiently.
We’ve a range of options available. You can buy our Kiln Dried Logs in bulk bags or individually packaged and stacked on a pallet. Perfect to fill any void in a log store.
