Bring the Warmth Home – Quality Firewood & Kiln-Dried Logs Delivered Across Merthyr Tydfil & Mid Glamorgan

In the South Wales valleys, getting a firewood delivery to the right unloading point can matter just as much as choosing the logs. Explore bags, bulk bags and crates for delivery to Merthyr Tydfil, Maesteg, Aberdare and communities across Mid Glamorgan.

Order Your Firewood in Three Steps

1. Pick your logs. Choose the species, pack format and quantity that suit your fire and available storage, then add your selection to the basket.
2. Check delivery for your address. Enter your postcode and address to see available options and charges. Select an available date for a pallet delivery; smaller parcel orders are dispatched by courier.
3. Review and pay. Check the delivered total, make sure any access notes are included and complete your order securely online.

Logs for Sale with Delivery to Maesteg, Aberdare and the Valleys

Mid Glamorgan is a familiar regional name, although its county council was abolished in 1996. Today, the places served by this page include communities in Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and the Bridgend area. That includes the Llynfi Valley around Maesteg, the Cynon Valley around Aberdare, and towns such as Ferndale and Pontypridd.

You don’t need to find a local collection point. FirewoodFund is an online retailer arranging log delivery to your address. Choose from the products above, whether you’re ordering a few manageable packs or a larger supply for regular burning.

Firewood Delivered to Merthyr Tydfil: Find the Right Format

Smaller bags and boxes are useful when you light occasional fires, have limited dry storage or prefer to carry the logs a little at a time. Explore our bags of logs if convenience matters more than ordering the largest possible quantity.

Bulk bags suit regular stove users who can unload and store a greater volume. The live range includes loose-fill options in sizes such as 0.8m³, 1.2m³ and 1.6m³; compare the product specification rather than judging quantity by the outside of the bag. See our bulk firewood choices.

Palletised bags, crates and bundles offer other ways to stock up. Individual bags can be moved one by one, while log crates can be helpful if you want a larger, stacked supply or a particular species. The best value is the right delivered quantity for your storage space and how often you use your fire.

Merthyr’s Valley Roads: Think Beyond the Main Route

The A470 and A465 connect Merthyr Tydfil to the wider region, but a main road is only part of a pallet delivery. The Taff valley has steep-sided terrain, and some addresses may have sloping approaches, limited turning space or a narrow street near the unloading point.

Bulk bags and crates usually arrive on a tail-lift lorry. A manual pallet truck then moves the load where safe and practical. It needs firm, reasonably level ground; it cannot normally travel over gravel, grass, steps or steep slopes. Delivery is generally kerbside, and placement inside a garden, garage or log store is not guaranteed.

For pallet orders, weekday delivery is free and you can choose an available date at checkout. Saturday delivery may be offered for an extra fee. Smaller parcel orders are normally dispatched the next working day by courier; parcel orders over £100 qualify for free delivery, while a charge applies below that amount. Check the full delivery information before ordering, especially if access might be difficult.

A Cubic Metre of Logs Isn’t a Tonne

Comparing firewood quantities can be confusing because loose-filled bags and neatly stacked crates contain different amounts of space between the logs. As an example, FirewoodFund’s volume comparison chart shows a 1.2m³ loose-filled bulk bag as approximately 0.72m³ once stacked. The stacked measurement still includes small gaps between pieces; neither figure represents a fixed weight.

Check whether a product is sold by loose or stacked volume, then compare the quantity, packaging and total delivered cost. It is a more reliable way to choose between a bulk bag and a crate than assuming the largest-looking container holds the most wood.

Kiln-Dried Logs for Your Wood Burner: Check the Centimetres

Our standard small logs are approximately 25cm long and 5–15cm across at the widest point, with a tolerance of ±10%. They suit many wood-burning stoves and fireplaces, subject to the appliance manufacturer’s instructions.

If you have a wider firebox, our large logs are approximately 35cm long and 8–20cm across, again with a ±10% tolerance. Check your appliance’s maximum permitted log dimensions before buying. A larger pack does not necessarily mean longer individual logs.

Which Wood Should You Choose?

FirewoodFund offers British and European-sourced logs, depending on the product. Birch is often chosen for its easy-lighting, lively flame, while ash, oak and mixed-hardwood products give you other options to compare. Our British larch bulk bags contain softwood, not hardwood.

Kiln drying reduces excess moisture so the logs are ready for use without prolonged seasoning. Check the individual listing for the precise species, provenance, moisture information and any Ready to Burn details; not every product contains the same wood. Once delivered, keep your logs sheltered from rain and damp ground with airflow around the store so they stay dry.

If you’re uncertain about the right product or your delivery arrangements, contact FirewoodFund with your postcode and the product you’re considering.

Your Online Order Also Contributes to UK Tree Planting

Every order placed online with FirewoodFund generates a donation towards tree planting in the UK. It’s a practical part of how our business gives something back while supplying firewood to households across the country. We don’t claim one tree is planted for each order or that planting necessarily happens in Mid Glamorgan. Read about our tree-planting commitment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Firewood Delivery in Mid Glamorgan

Is there a FirewoodFund shop or collection point in Merthyr Tydfil?

No. FirewoodFund sells online and arranges delivery to your address; there is no local FirewoodFund shop, depot or collection point in Merthyr Tydfil.

Can I choose a delivery date for logs going to Maesteg or Aberdare?

For an eligible pallet order, you can choose an available delivery date during checkout. Smaller parcel orders are normally dispatched by courier on the next working day, rather than booked into a pallet-delivery date slot.

Can a pallet be moved up a sloping drive or over gravel?

Usually not with a manual pallet truck. Firm, level surfaces are important, and the driver’s safe unloading point may be near the kerb rather than beside your log store. Tell us about restricted access before ordering.

Is a 1.2m³ bulk bag the same as a one-tonne bag?

No. Cubic metres describe volume; tonnes describe weight. The weight of firewood varies with species, moisture and packing, so compare the advertised loose or stacked volume instead.

Do the 25cm logs fit every wood-burning stove?

Not necessarily. They suit many appliances, but check the manufacturer’s maximum log dimensions, including sufficient room for the stated size tolerance. Wider fireboxes may accommodate our 35cm products.

Are there smoke control areas in Merthyr Tydfil or Aberdare?

Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf councils currently state that they have no declared smoke control areas. If you’re elsewhere in the region, or your situation is uncertain, check your own council’s latest information and Welsh Government’s guidance. Always burn suitable dry fuel in an appropriately installed and maintained appliance.

What is the best way to store my logs after delivery?

Move them to dry, sheltered storage as soon as practical. Keep the wood raised above wet ground, protect it from direct rain and allow ventilation; don’t assume the delivery packaging is permanent outdoor weather protection.
